This challenging 8-mile mountain race in Alaska features a demanding 5,000 feet of vertical gain. Runners will traverse a variety of technical terrain, including steep trails, loose rock, shale, tundra, and dirt roads. The course takes participants from the Government Peak Recreation Area, over a high ridge line to April Bowl, and finishes near the historic Independence Mine. Due to the backcountry nature of the route, participants must be comfortable with steep ridges and unpredictable mountain weather.
